COURSE OVERVIEW:
This lecture provides a practical, referral-focused overview of TMJ arthroscopy within an interdisciplinary TMD care model. Emphasis is placed on clinical decision-making, appropriate referral timing, expected outcomes, and limitations of arthroscopic management. Participants will gain practical clarity on when surgical consultation is appropriate, grounded in evidence-based referral decision-making and realistic expectations. A light dinner will be served.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Identify clinical scenarios warranting referral for TMJ surgical evaluation
- Distinguish candidates for continued conservative care from those warranting surgical
consultation - Describe goals, outcomes, and limitations of TMJ arthroscopy
- Integrate TMJ arthroscopy within an interdisciplinary TMD treatment algorithm

Course Description:
This American Heart Association Course For Healthcare Professionals will teach:
- Adult, Child, and Infant CPR
- Conscious and Unconscious Choking for victims of all ages
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use and special considerations
- Breathing Barriers, Bag Valve Masks, and 2 Rescuer CPR
- Cardiopulminary Emergencies and Special Resuscitation Situations
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this class the student will learn and practice basic life support skills including CPR, AED use, and ventilations, as well as additional life-saving techniques that can help those experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or an obstructed airway.
